Gove cards another 65 to lead BMW Charity Pro-Am

Golf Betting Lines

05/15/2009 - Greer, SC (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Jeff Gove carded his second 65 in as many days Friday to move one stroke clear of the field after two rounds of the BMW Charity Pro-Am.

The tournament features Nationwide Tour players coupled with amateurs over the first three rounds on three different courses. Thornblade Club is a par-71 layout and will host the final round. The Carolina Country Club and Bright's Creek Golf Club are par-72 courses and finalize the rotation.

Gove played Carolina Country Club on Friday and completed 36 holes at 13- under-par 130.

Jon Mills (66) and Fabian Gomez (68) both played Carolina in the second round and are tied for second at 12-under-par 131.

Leading-money winner Michael Sim (65) is one of five players tied for fourth at minus-11.

Gove started his bogey-free round with a birdie on the second. He then birdied both front-nine par-fives, Nos. 4 and 6, to head to the back nine at minus- nine.

After four straight pars around the turn, Gove birdied the 11th and 13th holes. He gained a piece of the lead with a birdie on the par-four 16th.

Gove closed his round with a birdie on the par-five 18th, meaning he birdied all four par-fives in the second round.

"All around it was a pretty good day. I didn't drive the ball quite as well today, but my putting is very solid," said Gove, who hit just five of 14 fairways. "I'm not focused on being in the lead right now."

Gomez birdied the first two holes, but lost those strokes with bogeys on six and nine. He carded four birdies over his final eight holes to share second at 12-under.

Mills birdied three of the first four holes to go with a bogey on the third. He made the turn at minus-10 after birdies seven and nine. Mills birdied the 13th, but dropped a shot on the 15th. He birdied the final two holes to end one back.

"I drove the ball well, which really helped, especially on the par-fives," Mills stated. "It's nice to be at the top of the leaderboard, but I'm trying not to think about it and just stay patient."

Sim was joined in fourth place at minus-11 by D.J. Brigman (67), Scott Dunlap (67), Louisiana Open winner Bubba Dickerson (64) and Daniel Summerhays (67).

Chris Smith, Jason Caron and Scott Parel share ninth at minus-10.

First-round leaders Chris Anderson (72) and Michael Clark II (75) did not follow up their strong opening rounds. Anderson slipped into a share of 12th at minus-nine, while Clark dipped into a tie for 42nd at minus-six.

MySportsbook.com: NBA Championship Odds

With the playoffs about two months away, the top two teams in the Western Conference are the clear cut leaders to win the NBA Championship. The Dallas Mavericks have the best record in the NBA (44-9) and have been absolutely scorching since the second week of the season.  What makes the Mavs’ record more impressive is the fact that they dropped their first four games of the season.  Currently they have won 17 out of their last 18 and are MySportsbook.com’s favorite (2-1) to win it all.  Right behind the Mavs are the Pacific leading Phoenix Suns (39-13).  Last season, the Suns lost in the Conference Finals to non-other then the Mavericks four games to two.  Of course the Suns were without center Amare Stoudemire who has is averaging 19.9 PPG and 9.5 RPG since coming back from his knee injury.  Unlike the Mavs, the Suns have struggled a bit lately having lost their last three and four out of their last seven.  Of course the main reason for their three straight loses is due to the absence of two time MVP Steve Nash, who is out with a shoulder injury.  Heads-up, the Mavs have beaten the Suns in both of their meetings this season.

In the Eastern Conference, the Pistons (32-19) are the favorites to win it all at 6-1. The addition of Chris Webber seems to have been a good move for the Pistons.  Since coming over from the 76ers, Webber has averaged 13.1 PPG and 7.3 RPG and the Pistons are 11-4.  Even though the defending champion Heat are currently on the playoff making cusp, they are the Eastern Conference team that is getting the most action to win it all (9-1).  The fact that Shaquille O’Neal is back in the starting lineup after missing 39 games probably has something to do with this.  No doubt, Shaq makes a difference when in the lineup as their winning six out of their last seven would indicate.

Kurt Warner to start, Matt Leinart to watch

Despite the debate that's swirling , Kurt Warner will remain the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, coach Dennis Green said today. The Arizona Cardinals are the +7 point underdog at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com for this Sunday's game.

Green's comment came in a statement released by the team following an ESPN report that Green decided that rookie Matt Leinart would replace Warner as starter for Sunday's game at Atlanta.

"Generally talking about the starting lineup is not something we do," Green told the AP. "However, given the speculation that was out there we want to make it clear. We're disappointed after last week, but we still expect to be a playoff football team and we fully expect Kurt Warner to be the quarterback that leads us. That has not changed."
